Police are appealing for information after a granddad was assaulted in Woodbridge last night following the Jubilee celebrations.

The man, who is in his 40s, was with his granddaughter when he was attacked in the car park near the Deben Swimming Pool. It is thought he asked a male who was walking past him to mind his language.

The male punched him and kicked him to the ground – he then walked off towards the town centre. It is thought he may have gone to the Kings Head pub.

The man was taken to Ipswich Hospital with bruising and a possible broken nose – he was able to go home in the early hours of this morning.

If you were in the area at the time, or have any information, call Ipswich CID on 101.
