Gold and silver jewellery designer Alex Monroe gave a talk about his Suffolk childhood promoting his book 'Two Turtle Doves, a Memoir of Making Things' and gave a jewellery demonstration at the Tidemill in Woodbridge on Wednesday, 16 April.

A top jewellery designer appeared in his home county to discuss a new memoir and demonstrate his skills.

Alex Monroe, who grew up in Suffolk and still has a home in the area, shared the story of his childhood and career with an audience at Woodbridge Tide Mill.

Mr Monroe, who has a boutique in south London and sells his jewellery worldwide, chatted about his new book, Two Turtle Doves: A Memoir of Making Things, with Catherine Larner from Browsers bookshop, in Woodbridge. She said: “Alex was an entertaining and engaging speaker who has had an astonishing life. He was a lovely, friendly person who wanted to meet each one of the 50 guests in attendance at the event, which sold out within days of it being announced.”

A selection of Mr Monroe’s jewellery was available on the evening, including his signature bee necklace. He also demonstrated how he creates a buttercup pendant.
