IT’s a dog’s dinner of a menu – but one pub’s hospitality for hounds has set tails wagging.
The King’s Head in Woodbridge introduced a new Mutt’s Menu late last year to make the pub an attractive prospect for people dining out with their dogs.
Specialities include honey-dried pig’s snout, doggy sausage and a ramekin of gravy bones.
The new additions to the pub’s food menu have proved popular with four-legged customers and have delighted and amused dog owners.
“People like to bring their dogs in and we love to see them,” said Mike Ball, the pub’s licensee.
“We always like to give dogs treats when they come in but we thought we should give them more choice.
“Everything’s 1 so we don’t make much profit out of it but we want to make people feel comfortable if they want to go out for a meal with their dogs.”
Mr Ball first thought of the idea some years ago but decided to put it into practice when he and his wife, Lucy, took ownership of their yellow labrador Sydney last year.
“We did a Christmas menu and that went down really well so we have kept it going. The pig’s snout is probably the most popular,” he said.
Mr Ball, who has run the Adnams-owned pub for the past five years, said he hoped that hounds out for walks around the Market Hill area would soon be dragging their owners into the pub for some food. “It’s good for business and I hope it becomes a talking- point too – a pub should be a theatre,” he said.
