DAVID Cameron hailed England’s World Cup bid team ahead of today’s vote saying it only remained to “go in there and give it everything that we’ve got”.
Speaking as world football’s governing body was poised to announce its decision in Zurich, Mr Cameron commended the work of Prince William and David Beckham in support of the bid to host the 2018 tournament.
“We’ve got a great bid so we’ve just got to go in there and give it everything that we’ve got,” he said.
“We’ve got a fantastic bid team, I think they’ve done a brilliant job.
“Huge credit to Prince William, who’s really put so much effort in, and to David Beckham and to the whole of the team. A great bid, we’ve just got to convince the people in there that we can do a great job.
Former England captain David Beckham went in to Fifa headquarters just ahead of the Prime Minister.
As he entered, he told reporters: “We are happy and we are ready for our presentation.”
The decision is expected soon after 3pm today - check this website for updates.
