Football is coming home! Or at least that’s what the streets of Suffolk were screaming on Tuesday night.
After a nerve-wracking penalty shoot-out scary enough to break even the most hardened football fan, the region is preparing to put itself through it all again on tomorrow afternoon.
But if you are hoping to catch the big game against Sweden on Saturday where will you be able to watch Harry Kane and his men take on the Swedes?
Many fans will be heading straight to Portman Road to enjoy the game at the home of Ipswich Town.
All four of England’s games in the tournament have been shown in the FanZone, located behind the East of England Co-op Stand, with about 2,000 people watching the drama unfold on Tuesday night as Gareth Southgate’s side held their nerve to beat Colombia in a penalty shoot-out.
Ipswich Town Football Club has changed its plans for the IP1 LIVE music festival as a result. The second day of the event has now been pushed back to 6.30pm.
Gates open at the FanZone will at 1.30pm, with entry remaining free.
When the England game has finished, fans will be asked to vacate the stadium immediately to enable IP1 LIVE to start on time.
Colchester United fans will be able to catch the England match after the U’s first friendly of the season away at Maldon and Tiptree FC.
A screening of the England game will be shown at the Wallace Binder Ground after the two sides’ 1pm kick off.
A giant outdoor screen will be in place outside the home of Felixstowe and Walton United FC for the big game.
After reaching capacity in the clubhouse for England’s previous games, the club hopes that it will be able to double the amount of people enjoying the Three Lions.
In the west of the county AFC Sudbury will also be screening the quarter final tie with doors opening there at 2pm.
A big screen is also being put up at the Fynn Valley Golf Club just outside Ipswich as it hosts a World Cup barbecue from 2pm onwards on Saturday.
The barbecue buffet will cost £12 per person for non-members and £10 for members.
If you aren’t heading to one of our local sporting sides then you maybe heading to one of our local pubs or bars.
Greshams in Ipswich will be putting up what it believes is the biggest indoor screen in Suffolk when it open its doors to fans.
The screening will be free but with limited seats.
Mark Calver, chief executive of Greshams, said “We’re so excited at the prospect of another England victory on Saturday.
“We have the biggest indoor screen in Suffolk set within a room that offers superb sound and viewing, the in-room bar will be open and food will be available so you won’t miss a moment of the action.”
