Christmas tree growers from across the world, including from Suffolk, will be in Leicester next week for an annual get-together.

The British Christmas Tree Growers Association (BCTGA) is hosting the Christmas Tree Growers Council of Europe (CTGCE) annual summer meeting from May 30 to June 2. It is the first time the event has been held in the UK in 15 years.

The British Christmas Tree Growers Association, based in Tuddenham St Martin, was established in 1979 to provide a quality standard for growers and champion the purchase of real Christmas trees. It has more than 300 members.

BCTGA secretary Harry Brightwell, of Fynn Valley Farm near Ipswich, said it was a “wonderful opportunity to share a bit of British Christmas cheer”. “We are expecting the event to be an informative and interesting few days,” he said. During the visit, growers will get to see what is understood to be the world’s largest tree bailer.
