CREW members aboard a yacht in the North Sea were safely towed into shore after sending out an emergency call as they ran aground.
Thames Coastguard received the call at around 7.40pm yesterday from the 28ft Belgian yacht OR5212.
The crew said they had run aground on the Long Sand Head sand bank, 13 miles off Walton on the Naze.
Walton and Frinton and RNLI lifeboat and the Harwich RNLI lifeboat were involved in the rescue mission.
The yacht, which had two people aboard, was damaged and was assisted by both lifeboats and towed into Shotley Marina where they were met and assisted by Holbrook Coastguard.
