A YACHT was given assistance after it ran aground at Woodbridge earlier this morning.

The Harwich-based RNLI Inshore Lifeboat was launched at 5.25am today after reports that a 40ft yacht, with two people on board, had run aground opposite the Woodbridge Marina.

Due to the possibility of the yacht being damaged or taken on water on the rising tide, it was decided that the lifeboat would stay on scene until she had re-floated safely.

The inshore lifeboat returned to station at 8.45am and the yacht was safely back on track.
