The summer storms could result in as much as 30mm of rain in an hour, bringing the threat of flash flooding and power cuts.
The Met office are warning the storms could cause major disruption to roads and rail.
The yellow weather warning covers areas including Ipswich, Colchester, Bury St Edmunds and Lowestoft and is likely to remain in force between 11am and 10pm on Monday.
Some places may miss the downpours and stay largely dry, however other areas could feel the full blow.

Drivers are being advised to plan ahead. There is also likely to be an impact on public transport.
The Met Office predict that the storms will ease off by late evening.
