A MAN has been jailed for three years after admitting 30 offences including more than 20 burglaries or attempted burglaries at homes in the Suffolk Coastal area.
Adam Brunning, of Elmsley Way, Yoxford, was arrested in November in connection with several home burglaries and subsequently charged with three offences in Thorpeness.
The 30-year-old initially appeared at Lowestoft Magistrates’ Court in December charged with stealing TVs from three properties at The Whinlands.
Behind the scenes Brunning had been cooperating with Suffolk police’s operation converter team, who work to encourage offenders to admit their crimes, and he went on to admit these three burglaries and 27 other offences including 22 burglaries or attempted burglaries at home, two thefts, two frauds and one criminal damage.
The crimes happened from July 2009 to October 2012 and it is estimated Brunning stole more than £12,000 of property.
DC Fiona Keeble, of Suffolk Coastal CID, said he had been responsible for a spate of crimes including burglaries at holiday homes.
“Brunning’s prolific offending over the summer of 2012 brought a great deal of distress to a large number of innocent people, and many were repeat victims,” she added.
“As a local man he used his knowledge of the area to commit these crimes, and targeted a tourist industry that generates a great deal of income to the local economy.
“Tackling burglary is a key priority for Suffolk Police and we are committed to reducing the number of crimes and taking action against those responsible.”
Among the crimes Brunning admitted are home burglaries in Aldeburgh in June 2011 and September 2012, burglaries in Benhall, Thorpeness, Peasenhall, Friston and Snape in September 2012, burglaries at homes in Darsham in July and August 2009 and May 2011, burglaries in Snape in August 2012, Sternfield in July 2012 and Theberton in April 2012 and a burglary in Leiston in July 2009.
He also admitted the theft of a battery and battery energiser from a field in Theberton and the theft of a trailer in Westleton, in September 2012.
