PORTSMOUTH will enter administration on Friday unless a buyer comes forward, the club's owner has announced.

Pompey admit that a deal before Friday's self-imposed deadline is unlikely despite Hong Kong businessman Balram Chainrai being in talks with four different consortia about a takeover.

With a winding up order due in the High Court on Monday, the decision has been made to take the club into administration unless a buyer can be found before then.

Administration carries a nine-point penalty in the Premier League but Chainrai's spokesman Phil Hall said the winding up order would automatically be suspended.
