Palmers last day of trading in the Buttermarket will be January 20.
The Bury St Edmund’s fashion store is set to close it’s doors after 50 years in the town.
The closure will lead to 35 job losses.
Chairman of Palmers, Bruce Sturrock said that the store was no longer profitable.
“It is extremely sad. I tried very hard to expand our business in Bury by incorporating our St Andrews Street property into the Cattle Market development.
“But it was no to be.”
Mr Sturrock said he will try to help all the members of staff find alternate work when the shop closes its doors for good on the 20.
The shop opened in 1961 and was later joined by a second shop, Palmers Homestore, in 1998.
Branches of Palmers in Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft will continue to trade as normal.
