Ipswich Town's first-team squad is continuing to struggle with illness ahead of tomorrow's away fixture at Lincoln City, Kieran McKenna has confirmed.

The Blues have been dealing with sickness in the camp for their last two fixtures, with a number of players set to play through it once again at LNER Stadium.

"We’re still working through it," McKenna told iFollow Ipswich. "The build up to the Portsmouth game was difficult but pretty much everyone in the squad was able to make themselves available.

"The last couple of days have been similar. We’ve got two players at home on antibiotics today. Some are just getting over what has been passing through the group and some are just starting to get it.

"It’s not easy when you have something like that going through the camp but we’re probably not the only team dealing with it, and it seems like the whole country has bugs and sickness going through it at the moment.

"It is a test of character. We’ve not been able to train with the whole squad over the last week or so. It’s nothing too serious but we’ll have to see who can come through it for the game."

Asked how many players featured in the 2-2 draw at Portsmouth despite suffering with illness, McKenna said: "Quite a lot so credit to the players for that.

"After Oxford, there were a lot of sick players in the dressing room and we thought we’d lose a lot of them for the Portsmouth game but 24 hours and 12 hours before it, everyone was wanting to play.

"There were quite a few who had to play or come on who weren’t at 100% and it’s probably going to be the same at Lincoln.

"It’s a group that are desperate to get out there. There will be no excuses, we’ll go out there to work as hard as we can and do everything we can to get a result.

"We’ll have a good team out for Lincoln and similar to before Portsmouth, a lot of people are putting their hands up saying they’re ready to go again."

Town's manager also provided an update on Tyreece John-Jules, who has been absent since late October due to a major hamstring tear.

"Tyreece is doing his recovery with Arsenal at the moment," confirmed McKenna.

"He's due to see a specialist in the middle of January then we'll see where we go from there."
