Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has revealed that Dominic Ball could be included in the squad for Saturday's trip to Bolton Wanderers.

It looked like Ball was going to sit out the remainder of the campaign after he underwent knee surgery back in mid-November.

But the 27-year-old has got himself back in the first team picture with 11 games of the season to go.

Panutche Camara, another midfielder working his way back from a long-term injury, made his comeback from groin surgery with some action for the club's Under-21s last week.

Asked if Ball might join him in getting some minutes against Birmingham at Playford Road tomorrow afternoon, McKenna said: "Discussions are to be had this afternoon as to whether he is in the matchday squad against Bolton or stays behind to get some minutes in the Under-21s.

“He’s been working outside on the grass for probably six weeks with the fitness coaches and he’s joined in with the group over the last week.

“It’s about picking the right time to reintegrate him to the squad."

Meanwhile, McKenna says he has a decision to make as to whether in-form duo Massimo Luongo and Nathan Broadhead are fit enough to start a third game in eight days at the UniBol stadium.

“We’re as good as we could hope for, I guess," said the Blues boss, when asked about the health status of his squad following quickfire home wins against Burton and Accrington.

“Of course you’ve got the likes of Massimo, who’s had two starts now in quick succession having not started many before then.

“Nathan Broadhead is probably in that category as well as somebody who hasn’t started too many back-to-back games.

“We felt it was really important to respect each game and Tuesday night was certainly in that category. We wanted to keep momentum in the group that has been starting more of the games.

“We managed to get some players off in both games, which is useful.

"But the fact this is our third game in a week, it’s a long travel and we’re playing against a team who have had a week to prepare is something we’re certainly something we’re going to have to factor into the selection."
