Former Ipswich Town loan star Jeremy Sarmiento has joined Burnley on a season-long loan deal from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 22-year-old winger was a big hit for Kieran McKenna's side as they achieved promotion to the Premier League last season, joining on loan from the Seagulls in January.

Sarmiento was often deployed as a super sub, scoring four goals in 22 appearances, including a memorable late winner against Southampton.

Back in January, when the Ecuador international first arrived in Suffolk, it was reported that the deal included a clause that would allow the Blues to sign him if they were to go up, but that was not triggered.

He will now spend the 2024/25 campaign at Turf Moor, saying: “I’m really excited, it was a big decision, as the next step was really important for me.

“I felt that the project Burnley are building at the moment suited me and I spoke with the manager, and I just wanted to be a part of it.

“Once we had the conversations, it was a no brainer for me to come here and come and achieve the objectives we have set.”

Sarmiento will link-up with former Town team-mate Vaclav Hladky, who moved to the Clarets this summer on a free transfer.
