Former Ipswich Town midfielder Rekeem Harper has won promotion from League Two with Port Vale.

Darren Moore's side made an immediate return to League One after their relegation from the third tier last season.

The Valiants had to settle for second place though, as Doncaster Rovers won on the final day to be crowned champions after Vale were beaten 1-0 at home by Gillingham.

Harper moved to Vale Park in November last year, signing a deal until the end of the 2024/25 season after his contract at Burton Albion was cancelled by mutual agreement.

He went on to make 21 appearances in all competitions for Vale, scoring twice.

The 25-year-old was the third of 19 signings by Paul Cook during that hectic 'Demolition Man' summer of 2021, joining from West Brom in a £500k deal.

However, he played just 19 games in all competitions for Town over a two-year stay at Portman Road, which included loan spells at Crewe and Exeter City.
