Jamie Abbott’s winter on the Portuguese Algarve brought victory in the Jamega Algarve Tour event at Quinta do Lago North. His rounds of 69 and 68 left him seven under par beating Craig Lawrie (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) by one shot. Dale Whitnell (Forrester Park) was one of four players tied in third place.

Perring takes over
Danny Perring takes over from Chris Duffy as captain of Gorleston’s Stenson Shield team. Perring, a regular squad member for years, will hope to improve on last season when they lost in the final against Woodbridge at Diss.

Bartrum chooses Stoke
Chris Bartrum of Diss chooses Stoke by Nayland for his Europro first stage qualifier. Sam Forgan of Stowmarket finished high enough last year to miss all qualification stages. Tournament plans for Jamie Abbott, Jamie Moul, Alex Holmes, Patrick Spraggs and Chris Soanes have yet to be finalised.
