Sunday League side AFC Claydon have certainly been living the life of Riley of late!

With help from Ipswich Town fan, and Sky Sports presenter Kate Riley, the RM3B outfit secured the signature of a new goalkeeper with hours to spare of the January transfer window on Sunday.

Frustrated in their efforts to find a No.1 to take them up the Sunday League charts, Claydon successfully sought the help of Riley on social media site Twitter as time ticked on.

Upon Claydon’s tweeted plea reading ‘#itfc fans @georgiebingham @SkyKateRiley please help us in our search for a GK. Good club & potential, Ipswich Sunday league. Pls RT,’ US-born Town fan Riley sent out a separate tweet to more than 38,000 followers reading ‘Can you help?? Ipswich Sunday League side @AFC_Claydon are looking for a GK. #itfc’. Hey presto, just hours later, Claydon had revealed they had signed a new stopper in William Taylor for an undisclosed fee – I think it’s fair to say all eyes will now be on his progress, no pressure William!

TALKSPORT presenter Georgie Bingham also helped the Suffolk side’s search by retweeting to more than 50,000 followers.

Maybe the pair of presenters will purchase AFC Claydon season tickets for the remainder of the season?

Speculation only, but as Jens Doncaster tweeted (in reference to Riley’s help) ‘and she delivered, we have a keeper!’

Meanwhile, down the road at Leiston Orient, deadline day was disappointingly quiet.

I thought the final Sunday score-line reading Leiston Orient P Felixstowe Athletic 03 P may have triggered the gaffer to make some new signings, but apparently not, but of course there’s still time for some emergency loans!
