AFC Sudbury striker James Baker has been ruled out for serval weeks after fracturing a wrist.

Baker, the club’s leading scorer last season, is likely to be out of the game for several weeks after it was diagnosed that he has a scaphoid fracture of his right wrist.

The striker sustained the injury while chasing the ball with Maldon & Tiptree’s Vince Durrant and ended up colliding with the metal surround of the Park Drive pitch during Tuesday night’s Ryman League Division One North game. Baker played on in pain until half-time before being substituted in a game which the hosts won 3-1.

He was taken to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford where the break was found by the emergency doctors.
