AIDY Boothroyd’s tenure as Colchester United boss looks to be over after the club gave him permission to speak to Championship club Coventry City.
U’s chairman Robbie Cowling was forced into making a statement last night after bookmakers Sky Bet reported a major surge in bets being laid on the 39-year-old taking over the vacant Sky Blues hotseat.
After odds were cut from 10-1 to 1-4, Cowling admitted: “Following an approach from Coventry City to speak to Aidy Boothroyd, permission was given to speak to him about their managerial position.
“The two clubs have also agreed a figure for compensation for Aidy’s services, should negotiations to appoint him as manager prove successful.”
