MALDON cyclist Alex Dowsett has been named in Team Sky’s squad, ahead of the 2012 season.

The 23-year-old, who competed for Sky last season, became the British National Time Trial Champion in September and won the time trial Stage 8a of the 2011 Tour of Britain.

Olympic hopeful Dowsett, who suffers from haemophillia, is one of 10 British cyclists in the Team Sky team along with new signing Mark Canvendish, Bradley Wiggins and Jeremy Hunt.

Team Sky came second in the International Cycling Union WorldTour team rankings last year.
