Hadleigh United are searching for a new boss after Stuart Alston stepped down to take a new role at the club.

The Brettsiders are toiling near the foot of the Thurlow Nunn Premier, having lost four matches in a row and six in all competitions.

Alston will take charge of his last match this weekend against Haverhill Rovers before taking up the role as head of youth development at the club. Andrew Crisp will take over as caretaker boss in the interim.

Chairman Rolf Beggerow said: “At the beginning of last season Stuart accepted the challenge of becoming first team manager at a time when it is publicly known the club had significantly reduced its playing budget resulting in a mass exodus of players and staff.

“Stuart has been involved with the club for a number of years, managing very successful under 18’s and reserves sides and the club recognises and thanks Stuart for the tremendous effort he and his management team have put in.

“In his role as head of youth development he will be working to help close the gap between U18’s and reserves and the first team and the club looks forward to a continuation of young players progressing into the first team as is the case today.”

Anyone who wishes to apply for the first team job should e-mail RFBeggerow@aol.com by Monday October 23.
