An Ufford good time at Ufford Park

A GOOD day was had by all to celebrate Ufford Park’s 20th anniversary.

A GOOD day was had by all to celebrate Ufford Park’s 20th anniversary.

Brunch, 18 holes and a grand black tie Gala Dinner, was a fitting way to celebrate the birthday of one of the region’s most popular courses.

Ufford Park, under the ownership of Colin and Shirley Aldous, has come a long way in 20 years, with much hard work and plenty of investment helping drive the complex forward.

The golf competition itself was a four-team format with the best two stableford scores counting and the course – despite the awful recent weather – was in very good condition. A big thanks to Adrian Hollins and his team for that.

I had the great pleasure of playing with one of Suffolk’s best players over the years, Jon Marks (pictured below).

Jon played a blinder and it really was a privlege to play with him – I’m sure he felt the same about playing with me!!! (NOT!!).

With Lee Dinmore, like Jon a Woodbridge player, in good form too, we pushed ourselves up to 86 points, alas just four short of the title however and not even a rostrum place.

The victors, on 90 points, were Mike Needham, Ian Duncan, Ian Joyce and lo and behold Colin Aldous (how could he?!!!). Second place went to Billy Nestling, Mick Wilson, Dave King and Reynold Beardsley with 89 and third place to Barry Heaney, Adrian Rawlinson, Mark Bartram & Gavin Brooks with a score of 88.

Not that it mattered that much.

It was all far too much fun. Roll on the next 20 years.
