The U's have wrapped up their second loan signing of the day, to beat the 5pm deadline, by securing highly-rated left-back Marc Tierney from Shrewsbury Town.
Like keeper Jimmy Walker, who also signed for the U's this afternoon, on loan from West Ham, Tierney is set to make his U's debut at Northampton Town on Saturday.
Tierney was crowned the Shrews player-of-the-year last season, and has also been a permanent fixture this season. His presence at left-back should allow Johnnie Jackson to return to a midfield role.
