CHRISTIAN Appleford, who was sacked as Woodbridge Town manager just before the start of the season, is the new joint manager of Ridgeons League Division One side Stowmarket Town with John Griffin.

Appleford was previously joint manager of SIL side Crane Sports before taking over at Woodbridge last February. Roy Russell has been appointed first-team coach.

Griffins said: “Christian Appleford, the ex-Cranes and Woodbridge Town manager, is my new joint manager here at Greens Meadows, along with Roy Russell as first-team coach.

“I decided to go with someone of the same drive, passion and ambition for the club as myself, and doing this together gives us more time to concentrate on the whole senior section at the club while having input into the club's day-to-day operation. I will have the final say but, this is very much a partnership.”
