SANCHEZ Watt could well have played his last game for Colchester United.
Winger Watt hobbled off with a hamstring injury, during last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at Chelmsford City in the FA Cup, and the results of a scan have confirmed the Arsenal loanee’s worst fears.
The 21-year-old faces a long spell on the sidelines, and it is doubtful whether he would fully recover before the end of his scheduled three-month loan stint with the U’s.
“Sanchez is a lot worse than we thought, so we will have to deal with that,” revealed manager Joe Dunne during this morning’s press conference.
“He has been a credit to us, and a credit to Arsenal.
“He wants to stay around and be a part of it here, which is a great credit to him and what we are trying to do here.
“But unfortunately the assessment of the hamstring is worse than we thought.
“We have possibly seen the last of him.
“Those kind of things you don’t rush back from, because they could have a detrimental effect on a player, especially someone like Sanchez, who is an explosive type of player,” added Dunne.
The U’s travel to Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.
