The veteran defender, who took a season's rest last year, after spells at Long Melford and Debenham since gaining a Suffolk Senior Cup winner's medal with Hadleigh United in 2003, had been training hard throughout the summer in readiness for a comeback this campaign.
However, Grant's season was disrupted almost before it had started by ankle ligament damage, suffered while playing for Hadleigh Reserves at Lawford last Saturday. Ironically, the injury occurred just minutes before Grant was due to be substituted after an hour.
