ELENA Baltacha has jumped up to 70th in the world rankings after winning the ITF Midland tournament in Michigan on Sunday night.
Baltacha, who trains at the Ipswich Sports Club when she is in the UK, overcame favourite Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 in the final of the tournament with a powerful display.
After overcoming a nervous start, Hradecka simply couldn't live with Baltacha.
A combination of big hitting and powerful serving saw the British number one cruise to victory and if she can carry on this kind of form a place in the world's top 50 might not be too far away.
