Team work makes the dream work.

That’s the philosophy of AFC Sudbury under-nines who, having literally started from scratch this season, have created a winning formula.

Some of the boys in the team had never played football before, prior to this season, and it was a challenge for manager Becs Ratcliffe and the team to create something special.

They suffered some defeats early on as the players got to know one another, but they have since turned around their form under Becs – a qualified and passionate coach who has coached in the US – and her dedicated coaching team.

With her son Alfie and the rest of the boys, she has turned them into an impressive team, who finished second in the Ipswich & Suffolk Youth League and reached the semi-final of the League Cup.

They play so well together and they all get on, enjoying training sessions and matches.

“I am so proud of all my boys, the coaches, and what we’ve all achieved together,” she said.
