BLACKBURN boss Sam Allardyce has been offered striker Nathan Ellington in a part-exchange deal that would see Paul Gallagher head to Watford (The Sun).

The former Wigan striker, 28, spent time training with Rovers earlier in the summer and impressed Big Sam.

But he could not offer 'Duke' a move to Ewood Park as the Blackburn board are hoping to reduce the size of the first-team squad rather than increase it.

However, Hornets boss Malky Mackay has put forward a proposal which would see lifelong Rovers fan Gallagher move to Vicarage Road.

Championship rivals Swansea are also keen on the Rovers forward as Big Sam looks to wheel and deal in the transfer market before the window shuts.
