Brightlingsea Regent 5 Ware 0

Debutant Billy Hunt was crowned a hat-trick hero as Brightlingsea Regent thumped Ware 5-0 at home, to move level on points with Maldon & Tiptree at the top of the Ryman North table.

Brightlingsea were cruising by half-time, 3-0 up and in total command.

New boy Hunt took just two minutes to score on his debut, smashing home a second minute opener, and he added a second on 39 minutes.

Ex-Stanway Rovers striker Hunt headed home Aaron Condon’s corner to double the lead, and Tom Richardson netted a quickfire third just 60 seconds later.

Substitute Phil Kelly maded it 4-0 in the 74th minute, with what his 99th goal for the North Road club.

And Hunt rounded off a great night by running onto a ball over the top to comolete his hat-trick in the 81st minute. The R’s also have a game in hand over Maldon.

Meanwhile, Witham Town clinched an impressive 3-0 win at VCD Athletic.
