RYMAN League Premier Division club Heybridge Swifts have strengthened the position of manager Wayne Bond by confirming his appointment for the 2009/10 season.

Bond has the full backing of the club`s committee to continue as first-team boss for the remainder of this season, and the forseeable future.

Vice-chairman Mick Gibson said: "The club would like to put to an end rumours that we are looking to dispense with Waynes services.

“The manager has the full backing of the committee, and he is going nowhere as far as we are concerned.

“Following our regular committee meeting, the club remains confident that he is the man to steer us away from the relegation zone, and move the club in an upward direction.

"We have a band of truly loyal supporters, and to get some more through the turnstiles to cheer the lads on would be a massive bonus to Wayne and his team, who are pulling in the same direction in their efforts to turn things around."

Meanwhile, Swifts have welcomed Ian Wiles back to the club following a brief spell at Blue Square South side Braintree Town.

A cultured and capable central defender or full back, strong in the air and on the ground with good distribution, Wiles was an integral part of the team built by Liam Cutbush and Robbie Nihill that won the Ryman League Cup in the 2000/01 season and finished seventh in the league, having been released by Colchester United two seasons before.

Wiles then followed Cutbush to Chelmsford City where he spent two successful seasons before leaving for Welling United, then managed by ex-Chelmsford City boss Paul Parker.

After two seasons with Welling, Wiles elected to return to Swifts in the face of numerous offers from elsewhere and took the 2006/07 supporters` and players` player of the year awards.
