ANDY Bond will return to the Colchester United squad tomorrow, against leaders Charlton, for the first time since his sickening collision with team-mate Mark Cousins in pre-season.

Midfielder Bond came off worst in that collision, during last month’s friendly against Ipswich Town. The ex-Barrow favourite lost his front teeth and is still waiting to have more dentistry work done in the coming weeks.

But manager John Ward will name Bond in tomorrow’s 16-man squad, following winger Ashley Vincent’s knee injury incurred during Saturday’s 1-1 home draw against Wycombe.

Ward revealed: “Andy Bond will come into the squad. He needs more work on his teeth, but the mouth has been healing well and he has been eager to get involved.

“Ash (Vincent) will have a scan this evening. He is one of ours and so will receive the best possible treatment.

“It’s difficult to say how long Ash will be out, until we have had the results of his scan. The knee is not in a traumatic state, but he certainly won’t play tomorrow,” added Ward.
