AIDY Boothroyd was officially unveiled as the new Colchester United this morning, and he has already made his first signing.

NEW Colchester United manager, Aidy Boothroyd, will bring in a new assistant within the next few days.

But former caretaker boss Joe Dunne will still have a big part to play at the Community Stadium.

“Joe Dunne is someone who gives his opinions, and I respect that. I don't want to be surrounded by yes men,” confirmed Boothroyd.

Boothroyd was officially unveiled as the new Colchester United boss this morning, and he has already made his first signing.

The ex-Watford boss, who has signed a year's rolling contract - chairman Robbie Cowling considers it to be a three-year challenge - secured the loan signing of Watford midfielder John-Joe O'Toole ahead of yesterday's transfer deadline.

O'Toole, a Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, has signed a loan deal until the start of January.

He learnt his trade under Boothroyd at Vicarage Road.
