Bournville 6 Chelmsford 2

A depleted Chelmsford side lost their third match on the spin due after conceding a number of sloppy goals.

The game started a very even affair, but Chelmsford conceded two goals within three minutes just before the 20 minute mark, as scrambled efforts from Steve Harding and Tom Rowland found their way into the Chelmsford goal.

Chelmsford managed to force their way back into the game though and, in the 23rd minute, Dan Emery scored what was only Chelmsford's second penalty corner goal of the season.

However, just two minutes before half time, Chris Graham deflated the Chelmsford side with another scrappy goal for Bournville that the Chelmsford defence will be disappointed with.

Chelmsford could easily have gone into half time just the goal down as an excellent move between Luke Mepham and Richard Nourse led to the latter unselfishly setting Mepham up, however, his first time shot was uncharacteristically mis-hit.

Chelmsford weathered an early storm from Bournville after the break, but as the half went on their legs started to fade. Harry Rowland extended the lead, followed by an Oliver Westbrook corner.

With five minutes to go a neat move saw Hales set up Adi Palmer and his unselfish cross allowed a diving Ed Stanhope to finish the move off for a deserved consolation.

However the scoring wasn't complete and Dan Pech got a last minute goal to restore the four goal margin for the Birmingham side.
