New Braintree Town manager Brad Quinton was left a frustrated man on the touchline at the IronmongeryDirect Stadium on Tuesday evening having seen his side throw away a potential second win of the season against their old Kent rivals Dartford and in the end having to settle for a draw.

“It’s a game we should have won and won comfortably but as with football at any level if you don’t take your scoring chances when they come you can pay for it and that’s what happened,” he said. “On top of that for the second game running we gave away two sloppy goals from which the players have to learn.”

Today Quinton’s all-new side take on unbeaten Chippenham Town at home and he will be looking for a win to consolidate their decent start to the new season.

Overall though Quinton is “satisfied to a degree” with their league campaign start and believes that his side will continue to improve every game they play provided the players learn from their mistakes.

“We have had a decent start with first a win at a difficult place to go to and then a draw against a good, solid side that will be up at the top come the end of the season,” he continued. “I’m certainly not disconsolate but just disappointing against Dartford we didn’t get the game wrapped up when we had chance and should have done.”

Quinton started with the same line-up in both games but showed he is not adverse to making substitutions when he thinks things need to change on the field adding: “The players have responded well to what we have been asking them and we have good movement throughout the side and I am really proud of the players because it’s not easy to start building a side from a blank sheet of paper.”

He added: “It will be a long season but I know the players are up for and I think we can do well while in training we shall continue to work out our set plays and continue to develop as a team.”
