LEISTON'S former assistant manager David Head has been reinstated as club captain following the appointment of David Burrows.

Burrows, a well-respected figure in the local non-league scene, has joined Leiston as assistant manager to Carl Chenery.

Having played together at Lowestoft Town and in the successful Sunday Carlsberg Cup team they also briefly played together at Leiston in the then Jewson league. More recently they were both at Kirkley & Pakefield and were instrumental in the rise of K&P in the Ridgeons League Premier Division.

Head said: “I still see my role at the club as a player and would like to concentrate on playing football at this level for a few more seasons yet. There is plenty of time to manage and that is certainly something I would like to do in the future. I feel I have a few good years left to offer on the pitch before making the switch to the sidelines.”
