Arsene Wenger's scouts have been ever present at Bolton this season, with the Gunners ready to make a bid this summer.
But Megson has warned it will take more than the �15m Chelsea paid for Nicolas Anelka last year, and wants to offer 23-year-old Cahill a new deal.
“I think he's the best young centre-half in the country by an absolute street,” said Megson.
