Cambridge City 2 Harleston 3

HARLESTON travelled down to Cambridge on a bright sunny morning looking for a good result against strong opposition.

Harleston started well, passing the ball and moving well into space to creatr a couple of chances. Harleston finally got their reward when Tom Sumner intercepted a quick free hit to loft the ball past the Cambridge keeper.

Cambridge had little going forward and with Harleston still playing very nice hockey they eventually doubled their lead from a short corner scored by Tristan Baynes.

After the break Harleston made a few chances, but preparing themselves for next year with a number of changes they lost some of the structure early on while adapting.

Cambridge managed to pull a goal back from a well-struck short corner. With Cambrige pushing high looking for the equaliser it allowed Harleston to hit them on the break, on one of these counter attacks Richard Ling was able to convert at the back post after a brilliant cross from Andy Hipwell.

Cambridge continued to fight and were denied a second when Iain Martin pulled off a top class save to keep Harleston in the game. Cambridge eventually scored their second with two minutes remaining leaving Harleston to hang on and clinch the deserved win.

Next week Harleston play their final game of the season at home to Bury.
