National League Mildenhall Fen Tigers 55 Kent Kings 34 A fine all round performance by the Mildenhall Fen Tigers saw the Kent Kings dispatched by a large margin for the second time in four weeks at Mildenhall Stadium.

All seven riders contributed decent returns with every rider recording a win or paid win, only Luke Bowen and Nathan Stoneman provided serious resistance to the rampaging fen men.

The Kings chances were considerably disadvantaged as early as heat three when Jack Thomas entered bend three with too much speed and crashed into the airfence.

A visit to the paramedic room saw him withdrawn from the meeting as a precaution, and with the ‘Kings’ already operating rider replacement for Ben Hopwood they were down to five riders including 15-year-old debutant Anders Rowe.

To their credit they battled hard and kept the gap between the sides to only nine points after eleven races before the Fen Tigers pulled away with three 5-1’s in the closing four heats to record a 55-34 victory.

Danny Halsey started the meeting at a pace recording two heats wins in the fastest times seen at Mildenhall this season, whilst improving reserve Sam Woods recorded his highest score for the Fen Tigers with paid 12.

Captain Jon Armstrong flew back from Mallorca to be available and scored a classy paid 13 before heading off to Stansted Airport to fly back and complete his family holiday, whilst Connor Mountain looked much more like the No 1 rider the club know he is with his highest return of the season, his 10 points could have been more if the riders had been called back after Bradley Andrews tangled with Mountain going into bend one in heat ten resulting in the Fen Tigers chain coming off.

With Luke Ruddick, Danno Verge and Alex Spooner all making good contributions Kevin Jolly was a happy man at the end of the afternoon.

He said: “This was another solid home performance from us and the margin of the victory only helps to strengthen our position at the top of our National Trophy group. We are well up for winning the National Trophy and a good performance at Kent in our final group match should seal our position in the final.”
