Suffolk Division One
Carlton Park II 2 Ipswich IV 1
Ipswich travelled to Carlton Park this weekend with a depleted team.
With shortages elsewhere in the club, both goalkeeper and leading striker were pulled up to higher teams, so the fourth team travelled with ten players.
Carlton Park were quick on the break, realising they had a golden opportunity to stop Ipswich's unbeaten record. However, the Ipswich defence were solid as ever and did not let the extra man break them down. Both Carlton Park's goals came from short corners and not open play, which is testament to the team for putting up such a strong fight.
At 1-1 Ipswich would have settled for the draw, but with decisions going against them (a shot seemingly stopped on the line by a foot and hitting the post), the game just wasn't going their way.
With ten minutes to go, Carlton Park got the winning goal, with a superb strike from a short corner into the left corner.
Ipswich are back to full strength next week and will be looking to get back on winning ways.
