COLCHESTER United boss Paul Lambert has revealed that he is chasing a centre-half, to bolster his squad.

The U's, as expected, have completed the signing of front-runner Ashley Vincent on loan from Cheltenham Town, with a view to a permanent move this summer, but Lambert is hoping to clinch another new face as well.

“We are thin on the ground with centre-halves, and hopefully something can be done later today,” revealed Lambert.

Club skipper Chris Coyne will be away with the Australian national squad later this month, for a World Cup qualifier against Uzbekistan on Wednesday, April 1.

Coyne's departure will leave just Pat Baldwin as the one specialist centre-half available to Lambert, following Paul Reid's long-term knee injury and Matt Heath's loan move to Brighton.
