Men’s Veterans

Friendly

THE Vets travelled to Peterborough on Saturday to play a friendly game filling in one of our vacant league dates.

Thanks to Andy Hodge who committed late to play with us, bringing us up to eleven, and to Spencer who travelled with us to umpire.

It was an effective performance on the day where we ran out winners 1-0 with a goal from Ken Wooding with a play from a PC mid-way though the first half. We were unable to consolidate the score further having created various chances and were aware that a one goal lead is never sufficient. Peterborough did have three or four chances with a few saves from Crawford which were well cleared away by the defence. A good team performance all round.

In case we aren’t together next week our best wishes go to Ken and Bruce who travel to Singapore with England for the World Over 55’s Tournament on 24th, together with David Gill as manager. We will miss them for our next cup game at Reading.

Don’t forget Vets training on Thursdays at 7pm for an hour. All welcome!
