Chelmsford 1 Trojans 0

WITH the home team still in search of their first win of the season, the importance of this game could not be under estimated. The match was not a classic by any means but the three points won were no less welcomed by a jubilant Chelmsford side.

Throughout the season, Chelmsford have continued to battle and show spirit. This team spirit was much in evidence against Trojans in a match that saw neither team take control.

The first chance of opening the scoring fell to Trojans. Following a save by Warren, Trojans saw their follow-up shot go over the Chelmsford 'keeper and, to a relieved enthusiastic home crowd, over the cross bar.

The class of Chelmsford's Irish International Ciara O'Brien, who has missed much of the season through injury, shone through as she controlled the defence. With the calmness of O'Brien, it allowed fellow defenders Arber, Heggie and Maxey to continually make attacking runs into Trojans half.

As Chelmsford continued to grow in confidence, they began to look sharper and faster. In the 52nd minute, Alltree showed her strength, whilst running with the ball from the halfway line to pass a defence splitting pass to Letts on the left of Trojans 'D. Letts calmly passed the ball around the out-running 'keeper to Knifton who slid the ball into an empty goal.

The remaining 15 minutes was a tense affair and Chelmsfords' Warren was called upon to make to some fine saves before the home team finally won their first league match this season.
