Kane Vincent-Young, fresh from a man-of-the-match display in Colchester United’s 1-1 draw against Chesterfield on Tuesday night, is looking to help turn around the U’s fortunes on the road this weekend.

Vincent-Young, whether he plays on the left flank or right flank, and as a wing-back or a full-back, is up for the challenge at Cheltenham Town tomorrow.

The 21-year-old enthused: “I surprised myself the other day, playing out on the left.

“But when you’re playing as a wing-back, you are often in the final third where it doesn’t matter too much whether you are on the right or the left. And playing on the left means I can cut in on my right foot.”

Boss John McGreal has hailed both Vincent-Young and Ryan Jackson as being “two of the best full-backs in the division.”

Vincent-Young said: “It’s a nice compliment, but I’m just taking it game by game.”

To date, the U’s have only won one away game in 2017.
