PAUL Chick has been appointed as the new manager of Ridgeons League Premier Division Norwich United.

It will be Chick's third spell with the club, after being the club's first manager when Poringland FC became Norwich United in 1987 and then taking over as caretaker manager from Paul Franklin in 2006/07 and guiding the club to safety before standing down at the end of the season.

He arrives with Norwich in a similar position to two years ago, with the club second from bottom of the Premier Division.

Chick is a vastly experienced manager at this level, having previously also been in charge at Great Yarmouth and Diss.

He replaces Gary Butcher, who resigned his position on Wednesday following the club's exit from the second round of the Ridgeons League Cup in a sudden-death penalty shoot-out at Wroxham following a 2-2 draw.
