Ipswich Witches promoter Chris Louis admits there is no ‘quick fix’ to skipper Danny King’s injury problems.

King suffered nerve damage in his left arm after team-mate Michael Hartel rode over it in a crash between the pair six weeks ago.

King was out for a month. But even though he has since returned, things are far from right. He had to pull out of last week’s Championship clash with Edinburgh at Foxhall after just two rides.

That, coupled with Hartel now nursing a broken arm sustained in a long track crash, Louis has been left with plenty to mull over.

“With nerve damage it’s time that Danny needs,” Louis said.

“He’s having more tests and it’s a fluid situation. It’s no quick fix.

“We are scoring Europe and beyond looking for semi-replacements for Danny and Michael. It looks like Michael is out for a minimum of six weeks.”

Ipswich’s bad luck of injuries seems to know no bounds.

Last year saw a succession of injuries and this year it has continued.

Already out of both cups, the Witches have actually made an encouraging start in the Championship play-off race.

But with a busy July and August ahead, Louis knows he needs to find solutions – and quick.

“There has been plenty of gaps in the fixture list this season and although I’m not happy about that, it has proved helpful for our injured riders,” he said.

“But we have a hectic spell coming up and I need to look for semi-permanent replacements. I don’t want to rely on guests and rider replacement.”

The Witches have no home meeting at Foxhall until July 12, although they are at Sheffield on July 5 in the Championship.

Sitting mid-table there are plenty of points to race for.

However, Louis will be burning the midnight oil, as looks to help maintain the Witches’ title hopes.
