Christchurch 3 Sudbury III 0
The day started in a chilly breeze but, like the match, soon warmed up with the home side exerting most of the pressure. Christchurch worked hard, controlling the first half with a fine display that was as entertaining as it was effective. Early chances had been missed before Becca Wooding opened the scoring, planting the ball in at the far post from the edge of the D. The home side continued to play strongly, looking to increase their goal advantage, but were denied by the Sudbury defence until late in the half when Megan Tarrant doubled the lead.
The second half looked to be a different prospect as Sudbury stepped up their game and launched a sustained attack. Christchurch held firm but had to battle to regain the shape and dominance they enjoyed in the first half. The central midfield partnership of Amy Barber and man of the match Lois Mansfield marshalled well and their vision set up more attacking play. This was finally rewarded when Sherie Garnham completed the scoring.
