CHELMSFORD City have released midfielders Jeff Minton and Kevin James with head coach Glenn Pennyfather wishing both players all the best for their respective futures and preparing to make a handful of choice signings in the next seven days.

Minton signed for the Clarets when Jeff King and Pennyfather moved across from Canvey Island three seasons ago, proving to be a revelation in the heart of midfield as Chelmsford went on to claim the Ryman League Premier Division title at the second attempt. James, meanwhile, was a welcome addition to the squad for their first campaign in the Blue Square South in 2008/09, scoring several crucial goals.

Speaking of the players' departures, Glenn explained several tough decisions had to be made this pre-season, and a certain amount of budget management would be required to mould a squad required for another promotion push. “Jeff and I can't thank Mints enough for his service as he has played for sides of ours for a long time,” he said. “Both players will be welcome additions to any team and we wish them the very best.”
