WHILE football provides us with bags of pleasant memories there can be a painful down side as Brantham Athletic's Marlon North has found out.
He broke his leg in four places in a 50-50 challenge against Newmarket Town, and when an infection set in he needed further operations and was moved to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.
He is still in pain and being heavily sedated although he expects to return to the West Suffolk Hospital at Bury St Edmunds shortly.
It was his first game for Brantham and the club are organising fundraising events.
Brantham official Barry Felgate said: “We have to thank Newmarket for their help on the day and also to Gorleston who have made a sizeable donation. It shows there are people who care.”
